Derek Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert, are officially parents for the first time — and the couple couldn’t be more grateful for their tiny blessing.

The Dancing with the Stars judge, 40, and the Extra host, 31, announced this week that they welcomed a daughter, Everley Capri Hough, on December 29. They shared the joyful news in a joint Instagram post that featured a black-and-white photo of their hands cupped around their newborn’s tiny feet.

“December 29, 2025 Everley Capri Hough,” they wrote, adding, “Every step of our lives has led us to you. Our hearts have been cracked wide open and our world is forever changed.”

Derek and Hayley were married in August 2023 and first shared their pregnancy news this past summer. In a sweet video posted in July, the couple embraced while Hayley revealed a strip of sonogram photos. The caption read, “We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small ♥️.”

In the months that followed, Derek shared how fatherhood was already stirring up new emotions. During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, he admitted, “Sometimes I…forget, right? I’m doing things, and I just glance over there and I see her bump, [and] I’m like, ‘Whoa.’ I’m like, ‘I’m gonna be a dad.’ And I cannot wait. I cannot wait.”

He also opened up about the moment he first felt their daughter kick, describing it as a defining shift. “All of a sudden everything became vivid and different,” he said. “I’m going to be something that I’ve never [been.] I’m going to feel something I’ve never experienced before yet.”

While this new chapter is filled with joy, Derek and Hayley have been open about the road that led them here — including previous pregnancy losses. In October, they shared an emotional tribute for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month, revealing a deeply personal part of their journey.

“This video is a tribute to a part of our story,” they wrote. “A chapter of loss, love, celebration, heartbreak and everything in between.” Although they were excited to welcome their “rainbow” soon, they also wanted to honor “our baby that never made it earthside.”

Their post reflected how grief and hope often coexist for families navigating loss. “There are some things in life that change you forever,” they wrote. “One in four pregnancies end in miscarriage, a silent heartbreak so many families know, and one we unfortunately had to experience. As we share this, know that there’s a rainbow not far behind.”

Now, with Everley Capri in their arms, Derek and Hayley are celebrating the rainbow on the other side of their storm — holding both what they gained and what they lost with deep love.

For many families, stories like theirs offer a reminder that God often works through both joy and sorrow, stitching together miracles in His timing. As the Houghs begin their first days as parents, they’re stepping into that miracle with full hearts and open hands.
