Prince William left those around him during an engagement in London in stitches after mishearing a comment made about air fryers. The 44-year-old stepped out earlier this week to mark the third anniversary of his Homewards initiative, with the royal furnishing a property in Aberdeen, one of six areas across the country where he is trying to create a template to eradicate homelessness in all its forms.

The furniture for the Aberdeen flat was provided by organisations and businesses, such as Ikea, which is supporting the homeless initiative. Helen Gauld, Langstane’s chief executive, then mentioned air fryers, which were misheard by William, who replied by saying, “Some of us don’t need hair dryers”.

The comment was met wth laughter by those present, including William himself.

During an event at the art gallery in London, William met individuals, organisations and businesses all involved in Homewards.

The meeting was to celebrate its progress, and those in attendance included broadcaster and DJ Dean McCullough.

Dean, who attended with his mother, revealed how “proud” he is to be an ambassador for the youth homelessness charity Centrepoint – as well as discussing how homelessness affected his life growing up.

Homewards aims to create a tried and tested model for preventing homelessness that can be scaled across the UK and beyond.

Three years after its launch, more than 2400 people have already been supported so that homelessness never becomes part of their lives.

It has also been reported that more than 70 individuals and families in stable homes and over 250 people have been supported into employment.
