ITV has quietly added a harrowing new true crime series to its online streaming platform, which fans can binge-watch for free.

The broadcaster warns that the series contains “distressing scenes” as it delves into real-life crime scenes centred around water. Body in the Water explores some of the most complex cases where bodies have been dumped in water in an attempt by killers to conceal their crimes.

Now streaming on ITVX, Body in the Water comprises 10 episodes, including UK and US cases that stunned local communities. All 10 episodes, each one hour long, are available to binge-watch.

ITV teases: “Gripping series examining the complexities of crime scenes around water. Uncover how detectives, pathologists, and police divers work together to bring killers to justice.”

The first episode plunges viewers into a chilling case in Scotland after police divers training in Loch Lomond discovered human body parts. However, when their prime suspect flees, detectives face a lengthy investigation for justice.

Despite first airing in 2025 on True Crime TV, some fans are only just discovering the harrowing series and are binge-watching it in one sitting.

Earlier this year, in a TikTok video, one true crime fanatic wrote: “New True Crime series to binge watch”, as they said: “True crime lovers, I’ve got a true crime series for you.”

Speaking about the heartbreaking watch, they continued: “I’ve watched the first episode, and it’s absolutely shocking what happened to that person before they went in that water, in the first one. Must have suffered a great deal.”

One person commented: “OMG I had nightmares about the first episode – I remember this case, that poor boy and his family.”

Another wrote, “Putting it on right now,” as a third added, “Starting it now.”

Each episode of the harrowing series features a separate case, involving bathtubs, open waters, and swimming pools, as viewers gain an exclusive insight into what it takes for police to track down suspects.

In the race against time, fans witness water forensic experts and criminal psychologists as well as police officers working together to piece together evidence, as it also delves into the motivation behind how and why killers choose to dispose of their victims in water.

As well as human remains found in Scotland, the series also delves into the shocking case of how a woman’s remains were found in a duffel bag washed up on the Florida Coast, as well as a woman who allegedly drowned in her bathtub, but her husband’s story “does not add up”.
