Jimmy Kimmel is getting the presidential treatment.

The publicists of the International Cinematographers Guild announced on Dec. 3 that the late-night host will receive the President’s Award at their 63rd annual ICG Publicist Awards luncheon on March 13 in Beverly Hills.

“We’re thrilled to present this award to Jimmy Kimmel whose return to the air meant so much to his audience and whose presence at the International Cinematographers Guild Publicists Awards means so much to us,” says John Lindley, ASC, National President of the ICG. “He stood by his staff and crew during his suspension, and we celebrate his commitment to his work and to his team.”

The host and executive producer of ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended in September in response to comments he made during his monologue about the murder of Charlie Kirk. After an outpouring of support from viewers and the Hollywood community, he returned to the air six days after his suspension. His return drew an impressive 6.26 million total viewers — despite the broadcast being preempted in 23 percent of U.S. households due to affiliate backlash.

While the awards are an annual event, the President’s Award hasn’t been handed out since 2017. According to the organization, it is presented only on occasions of extraordinary circumstances and was bestowed on Kimmel in recognition of his strength of character, his resilience, and his unwavering adherence to principle in the face of adversity.
