The South African hip hop community is in mourning following the sudden passing of rapper Bravo Le Roux (born Sinesipho Peter), who died at the age of 30.
News of his death emerged over the weekend, and his family has not yet shared the cause.
Le Roux’s wife, known professionally as DJ Sab, has largely kept her personal life private.
She broke her silence on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt message: “With a heavy but loving heart, I share that my husband has passed away. The past days have been overwhelming, and I needed time to grieve and to be strong for our daughter. Thank you for the love, patience and kindness shown to us. We will always carry him in our hearts.”
The post included a photograph of them with their young daughter.
Last year, Le Roux wrote a letter to his daughter shortly after her birth, capturing his feelings as a new father.
In it, he expressed his love and commitment: “Sana lwam (My child), I wrote to you before you arrived, dreaming of the day I’d finally hold you in my arms. Now that you’re here, I see that you are even more incredible than I could have ever imagined.”
“You are a miracle, a piece of my heart that now exists in the world, and I will spend the rest of my life loving, protecting, and guiding you. Everything I promised you before still stands – I will be your safe place, your greatest cheerleader and your unwavering protector.”
He continued by describing the joy of experiencing her life firsthand: “But now, I get to do more than just dream about you. I get to watch you grow, hear your laughter and witness the magic of who you are becoming.”
“You are already teaching me so much – about love, about patience, about the depth of emotions I never knew existed. Every little sigh, every tiny movement, every soft breath reminds me that life has given me its greatest gift – you.”
Le Roux closed the letter with a vow to remain by her side as she grows: “This world is yours to explore, and I will be right beside you, holding your hand until you’re ready to let go. And even then, my love will always be wrapped around you, no matter how far you go. Welcome, my love. You were always meant to be here. Forever yours.”
His family remembered Le Roux not only for his music but for the man he was behind the public eye.
They described him as a devoted father, a loving son, a brother, a cousin and a dear friend whose presence and care extended far beyond the stage.
They said that he was a gifted creator, a proud ambassador of his community and an inspiration to emerging artists. His music reflected his authenticity and passion, leaving a lasting impact on fans and peers alike.
Details of the funeral and memorial services are yet to be confirmed.
