She said her husband of 38 years had been “at the wrong place at the wrong time” when he was murdered.
Ashraf Qarmar Parvez, 68, was attacked while trying to stop thieves from stealing his phone in the city of Tema in Ghana.
The robbers tried to nick his phone at gunpoint – and when Ashraf intervened they shot him in the heart.
The shooter was one of a group of six suspects who fled the scene on motorbikes, authorities in Ghana confirmed.

Ashraf, from Ilford in east London, was rushed to Tema General Hospital but died the same day from his injuries, an inquest heard.
The UK Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of a man who has died in Ghana.”
The tragic shooting unfolded at a local drinking spot on November 7, 2025 – but Parveen has only now revealed the heartbreaking news.
The chef won the hearts of the nation thanks to her popular ITV series, Parveen’s Indian Kitchen.
She also posted regularly to social media to share her recipes – but suddenly went quiet last year.
In a recent video, the chef explained that she left social media in the wake of her husband’s “sudden and tragic” passing.
Parveen said: “Hi everyone, it is Parveen the Spice Queen – but I am not even sure if I am still her.
“I had a personal tragedy and I lost my husband about six months ago.

“Those that have lost somebody, you will know how painful this is.”
Fighting tears, she continued: “I feel he wouldn’t want me to wallow in self-pity so I am going to try and get back to work and posting videos and recipes.”
The caption said: “The pain of losing someone you love is all consuming and it’s easy to just let the grief take over, however for the sake of my own sanity, I am hoping to get back to work soon.”
In her latest post at the end of June, she added a carousel of photos of the pair and their family – including a picture form their wedding.
The 1978 song Follow You Follow Me by Genesis played over the images as Parveen explained she picked the tune because “I always told him that wherever he was, I would follow him – and I did”.
She added: “He is now in a different realm and I will follow him there too.
“Rest in peace my darling handsome, stubborn, witty, intelligent husband.”
