INVESTIGATORS are desperately piecing together the final movements of a Brit found dead inside a suitcase in an abandoned building in Athens.

The heartbroken dad of victim Elisabeth Ross, 38, has revealed he received haunting text messages from his daughter’s phone after her mysterious death which read: “I need some quiet time, I want to be alone.”

The dad, a lawyer in Edinburgh, has told Greek cops he was sent several messages for two weeks after Elisabeth’s passing from a man now being viewed as the prime suspect.

An officer told the Sun that the emergence of the messages has helped investigators track the location of phone.

They said: “They were sent from Athens and it is clear whoever sent them was trying to buy time.”

Elisabeth’s phone was only turned off on Wednesday morning after reports of the body being found made global headlines, local media claim.

The suitcase was first discovered on July 18 by a homeless man who noticed a foul smell coming from inside 7 Evelpidon Street.

But experts believe the woman was likely dumped in the neighbourhood of Kypseli and was not found for several days.

After speaking to the victim’s dad, Greek officials then learned that from July 15 to 29, several messages had been sent to Elisabeth’s relatives pretending to be the Scottish woman.

Another police source revealed: “Her last message sent to a friend stated: I need some quiet time, I want to be alone.”

Police have managed to piece together several key dates regarding Elisabeth’s disappearance and tragic end to help with the case.

She arrived in Greece on June 26 after flying out from Edinburgh, according to the Hellenic Police.

Officers from Greece’s main federal law enforcement agency say they are looking into the possibility of whether she was accompanied by another person or if someone was waiting for her at the airport.

Elisabeth is believed to have stayed at a friend’s house in Attica before leaving on July 15.

Phone records show she called a friend shortly after heading off, according to news site Flash.

Three days later, her body was found at 7 Evelpidon Street in the neighbourhood of Kypseli shortly after 1pm.

There were no visible wounds on the body or any clear signs of a struggle, police confirmed.

Police have started to scour CCTV from around the crime scene hoping to catch any person holding a similar case to the one which was found.

Cops are also urgently looking into the crucial three days to try and uncover where Elisabeth went and who she encountered.

The friends who hosted her during her stay have been questioned and confirmed she left under her own power and appeared to be in good spirits.

She said she was going to visit some American friends in Kypseli.

Autopsy results are yet to be confirmed to determine an exact time and cause of death.

Cops suspect Elisabeth may have been lured to the abandoned location by a homeless person who “left her in the state she was found,” an official told The Times.

A homeless man reportedly first found the victim inside the building which had been deserted for at least two years.

He entered a room inside and found the suitcase on the ground.

The suitcase did not belong to the victim, police have confirmed.

Officers initially couldn’t identify the woman as she reportedly had no identification on her, sparking Interpol to help with DNA testing.

The body was identified as Elisabeth on July 27 as Greek police launched a murder probe two days later.

Police spokesperson Konstantina Dimoglidou told Skai TV that authorities were treating the incident “as a criminal act, given how the body was found”.

Another Greek officer told The Sun: “To find a foreign national dead in a suitcase here in the heart of Athens is a first.

“In the history of Greek British relations, it is unprecedented.”
