Netflix has announced several exciting new arrivals this week, including one that fans are calling a “cinematic masterpiece”.
The period drama, which is directed by Wes Anderson, has been hailed as “perfect” by some reviewers and boasts a stellar cast.
This comes after Netflix announced some exciting releases coming this week, revealing on X that fans can look forward to Lisa McGee’s new series How to Get to Heaven from Belfast, the first 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1, and several classic Wes Anderson films joining the archive.
However, one movie stands out in particular thanks to its large fanbase and incredibly famous cast, which includes Ralph Fiennes, Saoirse Ronan, Adrien Brody, Lea Seydoux, Willem Dafoe and Edward Norton.

The Grand Budapest Hotel, first released in 2014, has thrilled audiences over the years thanks to its charming script, brilliant acting and stunning cinematography.
The film, which holds an impressive 92% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, drops on Netflix today alongside the likes of Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums, The Darjeeling Limited and The French Dispatch.
The synopsis for The Grand Budapest Hotel reads: “In the 1930s, the Grand Budapest Hotel is a popular European ski resort, presided over by concierge Gustave H. (Ralph Fiennes). Zero, a junior lobby boy, becomes Gustave’s friend and protégé.
“Gustave prides himself on providing first-class service to the hotel’s guests, including satisfying the sexual needs of the many elderly women who stay there. When one of Gustave’s lovers dies mysteriously, Gustave finds himself the recipient of a priceless painting and the chief suspect in her murder.”
Fans have taken the time to express their love for the film on the review aggregator site, with one writing: “An utter delight of a film that I continue to revisit on a regular basis. It might actually be Wes Anderson’s best movie, which is saying quite a lot.”

Another agreed: “Masterpiece! Lost count of how many times I saw it. Incredible journey through a weird and wonderful story, fascinating all the way. Quirky and sophisticated at the same time.
“Unique in so many ways, the cinematography is something else. The whole cast really shines in character. Fast moving, lots of twists and turns, unpredictable, highly entertaining. Just love it…”
“Absolute gem. Wes Anderson at his best,” a fourth commented, as another raved: “Love it! Wildly entertaining. Great cast!”
One fan simply called it “perfect”, while one more stated: “It is a cinematic masterpiece.”
The Grand Budapest Hotel will be available to stream on Netflix today, February 12.
