Hip-hop titan NBA YoungBoy is set to star in a concert documentary, which will be produced and distributed by Foundation Media Partners in conjunction with the rapper’s own newly launched production company, 38 Films.

Nico Ballesteros will direct the doc for 38 and Foundation. Ballesteros helmed the recent Kanye West documentary “In Whose Name?,” which opened in theaters in September. In that much-discusssed film, Ballesteros charted six years in the life of the polarizing superstar now known as Ye.

Beyond concert footage, producers say the film will “explore both the scale of YoungBoy’s cultural impact and the personal realities of life on the road at the highest level.”

“NBA YoungBoy is not just an artist — he’s a cultural force,” said Patrick Hughes, CEO of Foundation Media Partners. “Through Nico’s vision, this film captures that energy honestly and cinematically, while giving audiences a real window into who he is beyond the stage.”

NBA YoungBoy’s appeal as a filmic presence may be evident in the fact that he is now the No. 1 artist on the YouTube weekly top artists chart. The rapper sits on top of the chart in the latest frame with 47.8 million weekly views on the app, almost twice as many as the nearest runners-up, Drake, Morgan Wallen and Bad Bunny, who each sit in the 25-27-million weekly range.

The artist is also a major touring force. Pollstar listed NBA YoungBoy as having the 13th biggest global tour on its most recent chart, with an average gross per city of $1.6 million.

NBA YoungBoy was in the news Wednesday for being announced as one of the headliners of the sole Rolling Loud festival set for the U.S. this year, an Orlando gathering May 8-10 in which the rapper will top the bill the last night of the fest.

The artist just released a new single, “Creep Up on Ya,” with a full album said to be imminent. His previous album, “MASA,” came out in July and debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200.

Besides previously working with Ballesteros on “In Whose Name?,” Foundation has produced more blockbuster-oriented fare, including the two “Bad Guys” animated films. In the book space, in 2025, the company launched Foundation Books in a partnership with Macmillan Publishers.

No timetable was given for the film’s release, with the announcement of the project stating that Foundation and 38 are currently developing a strategy for both a theatrical and streaming rollout.
