‘One of the best films ever made’ that fans say viewers will never forget once they see it, is leaving Netflix very soon.

The film, Seven, sometimes stylised as Se7en, will only be made available on the streaming platform for a limited time longer. Considered as a classic by many and one film everyone should see at least once, time is running out for users.

Netflix now states that the film’s final day for streaming will be March 18. That gives viewers a month to make sure they haven’t missed a chance to watch one of Empire magazine’s top 100 films of all time.

For those unfamiliar, the film’s story follows retiring police Detective William Somerset who tackles a final case with the aid of newly transferred David Mills. They are made to investigate a number of elaborate and grisly murders.

They soon realise they are dealing with a serial killer who is targeting people he thinks represent one of the seven deadly sins. Mills tries to get his head around the gruesome crime scenes in his new home while his pregnant wife waits at home, afraid to raise their child in a crime-riddled city.

Despite originally releasing in cinemas more than 30 years ago, the film still hits as hard as it did back then with an impressive cast list that includes Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow. However, one cast member refused to be named in the credits for fear of revealing spoilers to the movie’s shock ending.

It was directed by David Fincher in what was only his second feature film, the first being Alien 3. The now celebrated filmmaker would go on to helm Fight Club, Zodiac and Gone Girl. He also helped make the Netflix series Mindhunter, directing several episodes.

Seven is simply a must watch for fans of that show, and in fact any dark crime thriller. Its set in an unnamed and rain soaked US city that has more in common with Batman’s Gotham than anywhere else.

Fans are still full of praise decades on

Film fans and critics alike still uphold the title as one of the best of its time period, genre and one that has continued to hold up decades later. As Empire stated: “Not since The Exorcist has there been a mainstream Hollywood studio movie as extraordinarily dark, bleak, intense and as monumentally scary as this.”

One fan agreed: “One of the best films ever made. It is a true masterpiece. I have seen this film like a thousand times and every time I watch it again it’s as disturbing as the first time. It’s always intriguing from start till finish. This is one of the best stories ever told on screen. 10/10 for this motion picture, it’s a true art. A must watch.”

Someone else claimed: “Probably the greatest murder story ever. If you haven’t had the opportunity to see Seven yet then you must. The only reason you wouldn’t is because you’re just too damn fragile to take something this hardcore.”

Another added: “Dark and chilling movie that you will never forget, also thanks to the ending.” The praise for the film among fans seems endless as one person posted: “Seven is a masterstroke from start to end. A dark, moody, violent & utterly gripping story, that keeps you at the edge-of-your-seat. There isn’t a single dull moment in this blockbuster, in fact, the tale gets more & more intriguing as it progresses.”

Seven is streaming on Netflix until March 18.
