A war film described as an “absolute masterpiece” is available to stream on BBC iPlayer. It has been argued by fans and critics alike that the historical film is “better than Saving Private Ryan”. While the latter is a gritty, action-oriented war film, its predecessor focuses on powerful and emotional storytelling leaving a lasting impact on audiences.
Film lovers applaud Schindler’s List, directed by Steven Spielberg , as the “most important movie ever made” to “truly heartbreaking”. Starring Liam Neeson as Oskar Schindler, Ralph Fiennes as SS officer Amon Göth, and Ben Kingsley as Schindler’s Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern, the 1993 war epic tells the story of a German industrialist who saved more than a thousand mostly Polish–Jewish refugees from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories during World War II. It is based on the historical novel Schindler’s Ark (1982) by Thomas Keneally.

Schindler’s List premiered on November 30, 1993, and earned mulitiple accolades, including seven Academy Awards (including Best Picture), seven BAFTAs and three Golden Globes. It is often listed as one of the greatest films ever made.
It has received an impressive score of 98% on Rotten Tomates compared to Saving Private Ryan which scored 94%.
Fans have continued to praise Schindler’s List with audiences still leaving reviews 32 years after it was released.

One gushed: “Truly a masterpiece of a movie, I don’t know why I waited so long to finally watch this but damn this movie makes you live the Holocaust era.”
“It is the greatest piece of cinema ever produced by humanity, and possibly that ever will be. a master stroke of genius, beyond film, transcending the medium, eclipsing all other works. if you die with out watching this movie your life will have been in vain,” another praised.

The movie is a pure beauty and the music couldn’t fit better. It’s hard to rewatch it but the timeless part of it makes the movie watchable at any time any year with every kind of public,” a fifth added.
