Netflix’s hit limited series The Perfect Couple is returning for a second season — but with a major twist that transforms it into an anthology format. Following the massive success of Season 1, which dominated global charts in late 2024 with its star-studded murder mystery set in Nantucket, the streamer is developing a new chapter based on Elin Hilderbrand’s 2024 novel Swan Song.

Season 1, starring Nicole Kidman as enigmatic novelist Greer Winbury and Liev Schreiber as her husband Tag, captivated audiences with its tale of a lavish wedding disrupted by a shocking death. The six-episode miniseries, directed by Susanne Bier and created by Jenna Lamia, blended glamour, secrets, and suspense, earning praise for its addictive pacing and ensemble cast including Eve Hewson, Meghann Fahy, Dakota Fanning, and Ishaan Khatter.

Now, Season 2 will shift to a fresh narrative while retaining the Nantucket backdrop and luxurious intrigue fans loved. Swan Song centers on the mysterious Richardson family — Leslee and Bill, wealthy newcomers whose arrival stirs gossip — and Chief of Police Ed Kapenash, forced out of retirement when their mansion burns down amid escalating scandals.
Nicole Kidman returns as executive producer through Blossom Films, alongside Susanne Bier, Per Saari, Gail Berman, Shawn Levy, and Hend Baghdady. However, the new season features a different creative team, with The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo initially attached to write and showrun (though recent reports indicate she has exited the project, with a replacement yet to be announced).
Expect an entirely new cast, as the anthology style means no carryover from the Winbury family. Casting for the Richardsons and Kapenash is underway, promising another A-list lineup to match Season 1’s prestige.
The renewal reflects The Perfect Couple‘s phenomenal performance: it ranked second in Netflix’s most-viewed English-language series for the second half of 2024, accumulating tens of millions of views and sparking endless online theories.
While no premiere date is set, production is expected to ramp up in 2026, positioning it as a potential awards contender once again. For fans craving more Nantucket glamour, buried secrets, and high-society suspense, Season 2 delivers a fresh start without losing the addictive essence that made the original a breakout hit.
As Hilderbrand’s Nantucket universe expands on screen, this anthology approach opens doors for future installments — proving the perfect formula for endless drama.
