Upstate residents continue to honor the memory of 4-year-old Javeayah Harris with a candlelight vigil Friday night at Foster Park in Union.
Javeayah was reported missing last week in Aiken County. Days later, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office said investigators believe she had been dead for more than a month before the report was made.
Deputies said Thursday they found part of the child’s remains in a reservoir.
Javeayah’s parents, Johmarea Davis and Michilae Herring, have been arrested in connection with her death. They were initially charged with homicide by child abuse, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators allege the pair used chemicals and tools to destroy evidence and dumped the child’s remains into the reservoir. The sheriff called the case one of the most horrific he has seen.
