The first trailer for the eagerly awaited follow-up to 2006’s The Devil Wears Prada dropped today (February 2), revealing a major twist for one beloved character.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 sees Anne Hathaway return as the endearing Andy Sachs, whilst Meryl Streep once again takes on the role of formidable magazine editor Miranda Priestly. Emily Blunt is also set to reprise her part as Andy’s workplace nemesis, Emily Charlton.

The original film, adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s novel, charted journalism graduate Andy’s journey into the ruthless world of high fashion magazine Runway. It documented her attempts to navigate the demanding industry whilst serving as junior assistant to the exacting Miranda.

The latest trailer unveils that Andy has returned to the publication, but in a dramatic turn of events, she’s now features editor. This revelation leaves Emily, who remains at the magazine, completely shocked, suggesting their rivalry is far from over two decades later.

“You’ve changed. You’re much more confident. You kept those eyebrows, though, didn’t you?” Emily remarks to Andy during their first encounter in a meeting room, wasting no time in taking a swipe at her adversary, reports OK!

The trailer also discloses that despite their previously close professional relationship, Miranda appears to have entirely forgotten Andy’s identity. As she enters the editor-in-chief’s office, her trusted aide Nigel (Stanley Tucci) quips: “Well, look what T.J Maxx dragged in,” whilst Miranda looks on bewildered.

“Sorry? Who is this? Do you know her? Do I know her?” she queries, to which Nigel responds: “She was one of the Emilys.”
