A disturbing new detail has emerged surrounding the 16 “feral” children discovered living in squalid conditions at a rural Ohio property.
The children, aged 20 months to 18 years, were removed from the family’s residence in Hamden, Ohio, on June 30. They were found when officers arrived to execute a search warrant connected to a separate charge against the children’s father, Gary Siders II, 36.
According to authorities, Siders had allegedly exposed himself to members of the public on four separate occasions in May. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson stated that the children were crammed into a single 12-foot-by-12-foot room “covered in bugs and squatting,” with a “distant look in their eyes.” It came after a terrifying discovery was made in the creepy attic above the house of horrors.
“They looked like almost feral animals,” Wilson said. “It was terrible.”
Siders and his wife, Elizabeth Siders, were confirmed to be the biological parents of all the children.
The couple was taken into custody alongside Siders’ parents, Christina Siders and Gary Siders Sr., and each faced 16 counts of child neglect.

Elizabeth Siders confirmed that she was the children’s mother, meaning she was giving birth nearly every year over the course of 18 years. She gave birth to her first child at 15, the same year she married an 18-year-old, Gary Siders II, in West Virginia.
The Siders’ property was found to be in an extreme state of disrepair, with officers reportedly coming close to falling through the severely rotted floorboards during their visit.
Wilson’s office revealed that the children were discovered in a severe state of neglect, reportedly covered in insects and feces.

The children were swiftly removed from the property and rushed to nearby hospitals, with several requiring intensive medical treatment.
Vinton County Sheriff Ryan Cain disclosed at a news conference earlier this month that the oldest child was unable to read or spell her own name.
“Most of our livestock was kept in better conditions than the children,” Cain said, calling the house a “disgusting scene.”
Neighbors and local officials told ABC affiliate WSYX that they had no idea any children were living at the residence. “I pray they all get help – even the parents and grandparents,” said Tonya Duho, who lives down the road from the home. “They just need help, and the Lord is the only one that’s going to do that.”

All adults taken into custody have entered not guilty pleas. A gag order has been placed on several defendants as the investigation continues.
Gary Siders II faces additional charges of four misdemeanor counts of public indecency.
Originally scheduled for a pretrial conference on July 23, court records indicate the date has since been pushed back to Aug. 13.
It comes after cops uttered one haunting word when they saw the Siders children inside the house of horrors.
