BREAKING: OHIO ‘HOUSE OF HORR0RS’ GRANDMOTHER DEMANDS FREEDOM—LAWYER’S STUNNING CLAIM THAT SHE WAS THE ‘ONLY ADULT CARING FOR THE CHILDREN’ IGNITES FURY

(NewsNation) — The grandmother of 16 children rescued from an Ohio home has requested to be released on bond.

Christina Siders has requested a competency hearing and to be released on modified bond, with her lawyer saying that her client was the only adult taking care of those in the home and needs medical treatment.

Christina Siders, 67, her husband, Gary Siders, 73; son, Gary Siders Jr., 36; and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Siders, 33, are all facing 16 counts of child neglect after authorities removed children ranging in age from 20 months to 18 years from the home.

Authorities described the home as being in extreme disrepair and said the children were living in a 12-by-12-foot room in extreme neglect, describing them as “feral.”

Gary Siders Sr. was released on amended bond because he was hospitalized and in need of medical care, while the others are being held on $300,000 bond.

Christina Siders’ lawyer argued that she is not a threat to public safety when requesting the bond.

“It is evident that Defendant (Christina) was the only adult in the home who had long been providing for all the other adults and all the children residing in her home,” attorney Kandra Roberts wrote. “Defendant paid for rent, utilities and other necessities in the home.”

She also filed for a mental competency hearing to determine if Siders is well enough to be charged, stating she has reason to believe that the woman does not fully understand the charges against her and requires medical treatment.

Siders’ husband has already been approved for a competency hearing. Her son has requested a competency hearing as well, and her daughter-in-law has requested to be released on bond, but the court has not ruled on either request.
