After a whirlwind of rumors and cryptic cast interviews, the news is finally out: Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black is officially returning for Season 3 — and according to insiders, it will be the most explosive season yet.
Netflix quietly greenlit the third season last month, but Perry broke the news publicly at a press event in Atlanta this week, standing alongside lead actresses Taylor Polidore Williams (Kimmie) and Crystle Stewart (Mallory).
“Season 3 is going to break the mold,” Perry teased. “You thought you knew where this story was headed? Think again.”
A Shattered Sisterhood and New Power Plays
Season 2 ended with the shocking betrayal between Kimmie and Mallory, with a final scene that left Mallory bleeding — physically and emotionally — on the floor of their once-unbreakable friendship.
Season 3, sources say, will pick up six months later. Kimmie has disappeared from the public eye, while Mallory is rebuilding her life with a dangerous edge and a new partner whose loyalty is questionable at best.
Insider leaks suggest the theme of Season 3 will revolve around revenge, political corruption, and family secrets buried deep enough to destroy entire legacies.
“It’s a season of moral gray zones,” one writer from the production team told us anonymously. “Characters you loved will do unforgivable things. And some villains might just win you over.”
New Cast Members Stir the Pot
Netflix has confirmed the addition of Kofi Siriboe (Queen Sugar) as Dezmond Shaw, a powerful tech mogul with ties to Kimmie’s past — and possibly her future.
Also joining the cast:
Demi Singleton as Raven, a young journalist hellbent on exposing the truth about the Shaw family empire
Tika Sumpter, rumored to be playing a ruthless U.S. Senate candidate with a vendetta against Mallory
Fans are already speculating that Dezmond may be the long-lost cousin Kimmie once mentioned — a twist that could shatter what’s left of her world.
Behind the Scenes: Drama & Direction
While the Season 2 finale soared to become one of the most-streamed episodes of any Tyler Perry production, the road wasn’t without bumps.
In a recent podcast interview, Taylor Polidore Williams admitted that tensions on set were “at an all-time high” toward the end of last season.
“We were dealing with emotional storylines and sometimes emotionally raw days off-screen, too,” she shared. “But we’ve grown. Season 3 feels like a new chapter — not just for the show, but for us as a cast.”
Perry has brought on two new female directors this season — a first for the series — to bring what he called “more layered, intimate storytelling to the forefront.”
Production Timeline & What’s Next
Filming is set to begin in July 2025 in both Atlanta, Georgia and New Orleans, Louisiana, with Perry reportedly investing in expanded sets to bring a “corporate-political underworld” to life.
The anticipated release date is February or March 2026, though Netflix has not officially announced it.
Meanwhile, a teaser trailer is already in the works and expected to drop during Netflix’s Fall Content Showcase in September.
Fans React: #BeautyInBlack3 Trends Within Minutes
As soon as the announcement hit social media, #BeautyInBlack3 became the #1 trending hashtag on X (formerly Twitter), with fans speculating wildly about potential plotlines:
“If Mallory and Kimmie don’t face off in court or a cathedral, I’m rioting.”
“Can we talk about that mysterious voice in the finale’s post-credit scene? Dezmond??? 👀”
“I need a redemption arc AND a body count.”
Tyler Perry’s Final Word?
“This season asks: What are you willing to destroy to finally be free?” Perry said. “And what happens when the person you love most becomes your biggest threat?”
