Fox News Contributor, Co-Host of Gutfeld! and author of I Used to Like You Until… (How Binary Thinking Divides Us), joined The Guy Benson Show today for a deeply personal and candid conversation. Kat and Guy discussed Guy’s recent skin cancer diagnosis and successful melanoma removal, and the importance of self checks when it has also come with Kat’s own experience with breast cancer, her double mastectomy, and her ongoing recovery. The two reflected on the complex emotions that come with surviving serious illness, including feeling guilty for having “less severe” outcomes than others, and the importance of early detection. Kat also opened up about her full-page New York Times Style feature, the insecurities she’s faced following reconstruction surgery, and the cruel backlash she received from readers who suggested she “deserved” cancer because of her work at Fox News. The conversation closed on a hopeful note as Kat shared how motherhood and watching her baby boy grow have brought new meaning and joy to her life (and how Cheems is fairing with the new member of the family).

Kat Timpf, 36, co-host of Fox News’s Gutfeld!, shared previously unheard personal details in an interview with The New York Times, including how she discovered her breast cancer, her dating history, and the harsh criticisms she has faced from viewers.

Bizarre Cancer Discovery and Post-Surgery Life

Surprise Diagnosis: Timpf revealed she discovered a lump on her breast while massaging them herself in an attempt to induce labor, following her sister’s advice. Doctors tested the lump, leading to her diagnosis.

Birth and Surgery: She gave birth to her son in February, just 15 hours after finding the lump. She subsequently underwent a double mastectomy in March. She is now cancer-free.

Physical Aftermath: Timpf described the physical consequences with humor and candor: “I still don’t have nipples. That’s probably the best way to describe it.” She also joked about awkward questions: “People are like, Are you breastfeeding? And you have to be like, I just cut my tits off.” She plans to have her nipples reconstructed with tattoos.

Positioning Herself in Politics and Media

Political Stance: Despite working at Fox News, Timpf identifies as a registered independent and has never voted for Donald Trump. She describes herself as “pro-capitalist, antiwar and sometimes critical of ICE.”

Standing at Fox News: She maintains that she has her own audience and that Fox News has been supportive, even though her style contrasts with long-time host Greg Gutfeld. She stated she did not want a co-star who agreed with her all the time.

Toxic Audience Response and Private Life

Online Hatred: Timpf has faced ridicule both before and after her cancer scare. She cited malicious comments such as: “YES, WE KNOW SHE HAD A BABY, BLAH BLAH. I HAD CANCER, BLAH BLAH.” Another user even advised her to try Ivermectin instead of a mastectomy and urged her to “Stay Home and Be a Mother!”

Dating History: She revealed that prior to meeting her current husband, Cameron Friscia (whom she met on the Raya dating app), she dated women, though she downplayed it as “not a big deal.” (She also wrote about relationships with both men and women in her book).

Gender Issues: Timpf strongly pushed back against female critics who claim she is not “ladylike.” She asserted: “I am not ladylike. I’m a little rough around the edges. I’m successful, career-wise, not being ladylike. I also have a man who loves me, and a baby, not being ladylike.” Regarding her male detractors, she concluded: “I think sometimes men just hate women.”
