Three other Greek fans have been rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

All 10 PAOK supporters were travelling through Romania in a black minivan when they tried to perform an overtake just after 1pm.

Terrifying dashcam footage from the vehicle being passed captures the moment the van veers into the opposite lane to attempt the maneuverer.

A huge lorry then appears as it quickly comes towards the minivan unable to move with two other vehicles in the only other lane.

A huge smash sends the far smaller minivan across the road as debris gets strewn across both lanes.

Emergency officials rushed to the crash site on the E70 highway between the towns of Caransebes and Lugoj in western Romania.

Romania’s fire service said in a statement: “Around 1.05 p.m. we were called to respond to a traffic accident on the E70, near the village of Lugoj.

“A first aid vehicle, an extrication vehicle, a fire engine and personnel transport vehicles immediately dispatched to the scene.”

The head of the Romanian Civil Protection said air ambulances couldn’t reach the scene due to adverse weather conditions.

They later confirmed that seven men had died and three were taken to hospital all aged between 28 and 30.

Thessaloniki Mayor Stelios Angeloudis paid a touching tribute to the victims.

He said: “Our thoughts are with the PAOK fans who lost their lives in Romania, on the way to their beloved team’s away game.

“My sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic accident, and a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Investigations are ongoing into the fatal collision.

PAOK currently sit 12th in the Europa League table which leaves them in the play-offs qualifier spots.

They are guaranteed to remain in the competition regardless of Thursday’s result but could still automatically go through to the next round with a win.

Lyon are top of the league phase and sit on the same points as Aston Villa.
