A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said emergency crews were called to the tragic incident about 2.10pm yesterday, March 29.

She said the dam was on a private property on Wyuna Rd, in Wyuna, north of Emerald.

The police spokeswoman said the pair was declared dead at the scene after the “agricultural vehicle” they were in had rolled into the dam.

It is understood the vehicle was farming machinery.

She said a report was being prepared for the coroner and no more information was available at this time.

The deaths are being treated as non-suspicious.

“This is an unimaginable loss for the Burnett family, and our hearts are with them, their loved ones, and friends during this incredibly difficult time,” she said.

“On behalf of the Central Highlands Regional Council and the broader community, we extend our heartfelt thoughts and deepest sympathies.”
