The shooting broke out around 6:37pm in Cobbs Creek, a neighborhood in West Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Police Department told The U.S. Sun.

A total of five individuals were shot.

A masked man in a white vehicle allegedly opened fire onto a crowd near an intersection before fleeing, CBS News reported, citing police.

Paul Cobb and Naasir Boyd, both 24, were struck by the gunfire and transported to a local hospital.

Both of the victims died from gunshot wounds to the chest.

The pair were lifelong friends, family members told CBS News.

“Whoever did this doesn’t realize not only did they take his life, they took all of our lives as well, because my life will never ever be the same,” Cobb’s mother Tiffany Thurston said.

Thurston told NBC10 that her son was on the way to her home when he was shot.

“I’m devastated. I’m angry,” she said.

“I don’t want no repercussions. I just want us to come together as a community, and this violence has to stop.”

Three other individuals were transported to nearby hospitals after the shooting.

One of the victims, a 36-year-old man, was in critical condition after sustaining a gunshot wound to his stomach.

A 54-year-old and a 35-year-old were also shot in the leg but are in stable condition.

Philadelphia Police said the motive was not immediately clear.

Police are looking for surveillance footage in the area and witnesses with more information on the vehicle and the unidentified gunman.

Michelle Hawkins, Cobb’s cousin, pleaded with locals to come forward with any information.

“If anyone knows anything, please do us a favor and give up the information because we lost someone close to us and we are never going to get that back ever,” she told CBS.

Fifteen shell casings were spotted at the scene by NBC10.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s homicide unit is running the investigation, which remains ongoing.
