Man found dead in Melbourne apartment overnight
A 15-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly using an E-bike to strike a police officer in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, leaving a senior sergeant with serious injuries.
The male sergeant was patrolling the Flinders St precinct yesterday at about 4pm when he noticed a group of youths on E-bikes riding erratically through the crowded thoroughfare.
When the officer attempted to intercept the group between Swanston and Elizabeth streets, he asked one of the riders to pull over.

Police allege the 15-year-old boy sped up and struck the sergeant as he attempted to drive off.
The sergeant was taken to hospital with serious leg injuries.
The rest of the group fled the scene but the 15-year-old Port Phillip local was arrested by other officers on the spot.
The teenager spent the night in custody and has since been hit with a string of serious charges.
The teenager has been granted bail and is scheduled to face a children’s court at a later date. Police are continuing their search for the remaining riders involved in the group.
