Mid North Coast Police District Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Mark Rogers, said due to the nature of those injuries, her death was being treated as suspicious.
He said Strike Force Hazen had been established to lead the investigation, with assistance from the State Crime Command Homicide Squad.
“The injuries form part of our suspicions around her death,”
Detective Inspector Rogers said.

He said officers were speaking with several people as the investigation continued, but no charges have been laid at this stage.
“There’s a number of inquiries we’ll keep an open mind about … if anyone’s heard anything or has any information regarding Megan, we would urge them to come forward,” Detective Inspector Rogers said.
Megan’s sister-in-law, Erin Russell, said the 31-year-old was a “beautiful, nurturing soul” whose death had devastated the family.
“Megan was always so kind and caring,” she said.
“She would always be the first person to check in on others.”
Ms Russell said the family is committed to seeing Megan’s suspected killer brought to justice.
“This has hit very close to home; we’re not coping so well right now,” she said.
“But we’re not going to let this defeat us.”
