A representative for Priscilla Presley is shutting down speculation that Sarah Ferguson has been staying with her amid renewed scrutiny surrounding the former Duchess of York’s ties to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“It’s totally false,” a spokesperson for Presley, 80, exclusively tells PEOPLE. A representative for Ferguson had no comment when reached by PEOPLE.

The denial comes after Page Six indicated in a March 4 report — later picked up by the Daily Mail this week — that sources claimed Ferguson, 66, had been staying with friends, including Presley.

According to the report, Ferguson has been leaning on friends for places to stay after she and her ex-husband, former Prince Andrew, were forced out of Royal Lodge in Windsor after King Charles stripped Andrew of his royal titles amid fresh criticism over his Epstein ties in October 2025. Ferguson has not been accused of any wrongdoing in connection with her relationship to Epstein.

Ferguson and Presley shared a personal connection through Presley’s late daughter, Lisa Marie Presley. Ferguson referred to Lisa Marie as her “sissy” in a tribute after her death at age 54 in January 2023. Ferguson also spoke at Lisa Marie’s memorial service at Graceland later that month, quoting her former mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth as she said, “Grief is the price we pay for love.”

Page Six further reported that Ferguson has had a difficult time finding somewhere to stay in New York, a city she has frequently visited and where she has previously stayed with friends. While the Daily Mail noted that Presley, the ex-wife of Elvis Presley, is primarily based in Los Angeles, the outlet pointed out that she has owned multiple properties across the U.S. over the years.

“Everyone’s telling her that now’s not a good time,” an insider told Page Six about Ferguson. “A lot of people actually really like her, but being associated with anyone associated with Epstein just isn’t wise right now.”

Ferguson’s whereabouts have remained something of a mystery in the wake of renewed scrutiny over her past association with Epstein and the arrest of her ex-husband, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, in February. She has not been seen publicly since December 2025, and her current location remains unclear.

As of late January, PEOPLE understood that the former Duchess of York planned to spend time overseas as she considered her next moves after vacating her Royal Lodge home.

Ferguson is also reported to have spent time at wellness retreats in Switzerland and Ireland in recent months. The Daily Mail previously reported that she checked into Paracelsus Recovery, a luxury wellness rehabilitation clinic in Switzerland, shortly after Christmas and remained there until late January.

In February, the outlet reported that she then traveled to Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa, a secluded retreat in Donegal, Ireland — returning to a stretch of coastline she had previously described as a sanctuary in a 2024 TikTok.

A representative for Ferguson had no comment.

In December 2025, Ferguson’s spokesperson also dismissed speculation that she might relocate to an annex or converted barn at Princess Beatrice’s country home. Staying with Princess Eugenie in Portugal was similarly said not to be under consideration.

“She is assessing a number of options currently, and no final decision has been made,” her spokesman told PEOPLE at the time.

After the eviction news broke in October, a source told PEOPLE that Ferguson was going to move into a “separate home” from her ex-husband.

“Contrary to reports, she has never asked for a property or any provision for herself,” the source said . “She will continue to forge an independent life.”

Ferguson faced another setback this week when she was stripped of one more honorary title. On March 26, the BBC reported that the City of York had voted unanimously to revoke her Freedom of the City of York, an honor she and Andrew received during a visit to the city in 1988, the year after their wedding.

Claire Douglas, leader of City of York Council, said the move was tied to renewed scrutiny over Ferguson’s past association with Epstein. Epstein, the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, and Andrew’s connection to him helped trigger the scandal that ultimately led to his withdrawal from royal life.

“Honorary Freedom is bestowed only on persons of distinction and those having given eminent services to the City of York. As the people of York would expect, holding this status requires upholding the values and behaviors consistent with such an honor. Those who continued to associate with Epstein after his crimes became widely known fall well short of these expectations,” Douglas said, according to the BBC.

“City of York councillors considered these issues this evening and agreed that removing the honor from Sarah Ferguson was appropriate. This was the right decision to take to maintain the integrity and standing of this important York honor,” she said.

Previous Freedom of the City of York recipients include former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, actress Dame Judi Dench, film composer John Barry and the Duke of Wellington, The Independent reported.

Andrew’s Freedom of the City of York was removed in April 2022 after Queen Elizabeth stripped his military titles and patronages that January. The monarch made the move after a judge rejected Andrew’s attempt to have Epstein victim Virginia Roberts Giuffre’s sexual assault lawsuit against him dismissed. He settled with Giuffre out of court for an undisclosed sum and strenuously denied any wrongdoing regarding his relationship with Epstein.

While Ferguson previously bounced back from scandals, often recovering through media appearances, book tours and carefully framed interviews, a friend recently told PEOPLE that this moment is particularly sobering.

“This has really hit her,” a friend said of Ferguson in a recent PEOPLE cover story.

Andrew Lownie, author of Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, argued that Ferguson “will find it very hard to come back” this time.

“She always thinks she can bounce back,” a friend says of Ferguson. “But this isn’t something that can blow over.”
