Louis Osbourne and Jack Osbourne recalled being blown away by the turnout at Ozzy Osbourne’s hometown funeral.
During the Tuesday, Nov. 18 episode of Jack’s Trying Not to Die podcast, the brothers recalled how stunned they were by the amount of love and support for their late father — who died in July at the age of 76 — during the July 30 procession in Birmingham.
Louis said that he was surprised by the “volume of people” showed up to pay their respects to the late rock icon.
“Before we turned onto the street, I just thought it was going to be like, two or three people deep for half a kilometer before where the Black Sabbath bridge was, and it would be a throng,” he said.
But the number of people who attended was “f—ing insane.”
Louis said he was “getting goosebumps thinking about” people “climbing up lampposts, hanging out of windows, standing on top of bus stops to get a look of it.”
“Once we had all got out of the cars and showed our respects, and put some flowers down and moved on again, it kept on going for another half a mile and then people were following us all around town,” he recalled.
Louis added, “I knew people loved him, but I didn’t have a sense of how many and how much.”
During the July 30 funeral in Birmingham, Ozzy’s wife Sharon Osbourne, and daughters Kelly Osbourne and Aimee Osbourne, were by Louis and Jack’s sides as they said goodbye to the Prince of Darkness.

At the time, Ozzy’s coffin was adorned with purple flowers that spelled out his name, and fans threw flowers at the hearse as it passed, shouting “Ozzy, Ozzy.”
When the procession stopped on the Black Sabbath bridge the family stepped out to view the tributes for around five minutes, per footage from the BBC.
Sharon, 73, appeared to be comforted by daughter by Kelly, 41, who held her hand, as Aimee, 42, Jack, 40, and Louis also seemed to be emotional while looking at the tributes.
Before laying their own floral tributes, the family held up peace signs to the cheering crowd.
