Meghan Markle and Prince Harry hit the red carpet for a rare night out in New York City.

On Thursday, Oct. 9, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived hand in hand at the annual Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Gala at Spring Studios in New York City.

Meghan opted for one of her go-to designers, Armani, wearing a sleek black suit, while Harry looked sharp in a classic black version of his own. The Duchess of Sussex finished the look with a chunky gold chain necklace and a ponytail.

The glam moment comes just days after Meghan made her debut at Paris Fashion Week, appearing at the Balenciaga Womenswear Spring/Summer 2026 show on Oct. 4.

As PEOPLE exclusively revealed in September, Harry, 41, and Meghan, 44, are set to receive the Humanitarians of the Year Award at the event. The couple is being honored by the nonprofit for their efforts to build a safer, more equitable online world for families and youth, in addition to their contributions to advance mental well-being worldwide.

Harry and Meghan co-founded The Archewell Foundation in 2020 on a mission to “show up, do good,” and launched The Parent’s Network as a key project at the Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Festival in 2023.

The Parents’ Network is a community for parents and caregivers whose children have been affected by social media harms, including families who have lost a child or whose children have experienced near-fatal harm due to dangers online.

The Parents’ Network has expanded across the U.S., Canada and the U.K. since its launch two years ago, illustrating the impact of community-driven healing and support.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are parents to two young children, son Prince Archie, 6, and daughter Princess Lilibet, 4, shared their perspective as parents while acknowledging the Humanitarians of the Year Award.

“Working with families and young people to prioritize safety online has been some of the most meaningful work of our lives. As parents ourselves, we have been moved to action by the power of their stories and are honored to support them,” Prince Harry and Meghan said in a statement.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s night out at the gala, which is hosted by Carson Daly, brings them back to N.Y.C. for the first time since April, when Harry supported Meghan as she spoke about her business ventures and As ever brand at the 2025 TIME100 Summit.

Meghan also discussed the “boundaries” she sets around her mental health and well-being there, and she and Harry attended a private vigil at The Lost Screen Memorial unveiled by The Archewell Foundation elsewhere during the trip.

The Lost Screen Memorial features 50 smartphones illuminated with the lock screen photo of a child whose life was tragically cut short due to online harms, shared by members of The Parent’s Network.

The tribute will be displayed at the Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day Festival on Oct. 10, which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend.
