Meghan reveals on MasterChef Australia the surprising food that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet can eat without complaining
Meghan Markle has a pair of adventurous eaters on her hands.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, is a guest judge on this week’s episode of MasterChef Australia, during which she tasks the contestants with creating a dish using some of her favorite foods.
Followers of Meghan’s Instagram, viewers of her Emmy-nominated Netflix lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan, and As ever customers won’t be surprised to see that her table is full of fresh produce and healthy ingredients. But they might be surprised which one she says her children — Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5 — eat without complaint.
In a preview of the episode shared by 10 News Sydney, Meghan shows off carrots, Jerusalem artichokes, Brussels sprouts, celeriac, local Australian honey, macadamias, quince, lemons, apples, mandarins and strawberries. She notes, “My kids eat Brussels sprouts.”
“That’s impressive,” replies Sofia Levin, who joins Meghan on the judges’ panel alongside her fellow season 18 regulars Jean-Christophe Novelli and Poh Ling Yeow.

Meghan also opened up about how her family informs her love for the kitchen.
“Food and cooking to me is really a love language,” she said. “I think it’s such a great way to connect. It’s something that can feel sentimental and meaningful and It’s how I, it’s how I show my nurturing and love for my friends, family, and my kids.”
However, she admitted she wasn’t sure she’d be cut out for the MasterChef atmosphere.
“There is a lot of pressure in this kitchen,” she noted. “I don’t like to cook that way. I like to cook in a really relaxed fashion, so all I could say to the competitors was to just remember to have fun, to keep a sense of humor about it and to cook from the heart.”
As for what she was looking for from the contestants, Meghan said, “I’m a California girl. I like grilled fish, grilled meats, lots of citrus. I just like using really pure, natural herbs and spices, like basil and oregano.”
Ultimately, she said she came away loving her experience on the show, which airs Sunday night on Australia’s Network 10.
“I loved watching all the guys hug and connect and just be proud of each other because they’ve all worked really hard,” she shared.
Some of the remaining MasterChef contestants were just as thrilled to have her on the show. Finalists Petro Papathomas and Casper Kenworthy opened up to TV Week about being totally shocked by the surprise guest judge.
“I remember watching her in Suits,” said Papathomas. “I was a bit starstruck. She was really genuine. There’s been so much written about her, you kind of don’t know what to believe, but I loved her. She was so kind and talks really intelligently about food as well.”
Kenworthy agreed, noting that Meghan’s acting background gave her a leg up compared to other guest judges.
“When you have someone who’s used to being in front of a camera and on TV, it’s a lot smoother,” he noted. “Some guest judges who come on might come across a bit awkward because it’s not their day-to-day job being on camera. So having someone who has really good confidence on camera actually makes us more calm. So that was really valuable.”
“It’s something none of us expected. Never in a million years would you think that she would be on MasterChef, and she was one of our favourite judges as well. She was interested in what you were doing and wanting to chat.”
