A MUM has been arrested after allegedly abandoning her young kids and leaving them with an Uber driver for two hours to go to a bar.

Emily Sabogal, 32, was arrested last week after cops responded to a report that a mum had left her two kids in a taxi and then fled.

The Uber driver told police that he believed Sabogal was drunk when she got into his car with her children aged three and four.

He alleged that Sabogal was drinking from a cup that smelled like it had rum inside, according to CBS News.

The mum reportedly kept murmuring in Spanish: “He thinks I’m stupid.”

She told the driver to turn away from the GPS route and grabbed the Uber driver’s phone and cancelled the ride before handing him $10 in cash, NBC South Florida reported.

The driver claimed the mum told him she would be back in a couple of minutes when she exited the vehicle.

After an hour he called her on her phone, and she replied saying she would be back in 12 minutes.

The driver then called 911 – almost two hours after she had left the car.

Police rushed to the scene and reportedly found the children hungry and thirsty but “in good spirits”.

The mum was located by police, walking outside a McDonald’s more than two miles away.

She reportedly appeared intoxicated and slurred her words as she spoke with them.

Sabogal was charged with one count of child neglect and two counts of desertion of a child, authorities said.

Local cops said they could allegedly smell alcohol on the mum, and claimed she was unable to explain her actions.

Sabogal said to officers in the bodycam footage: “I don’t know what’s going on right now.”

Police replied: “What’s going on? You deserted your kids for two hours! That’s what’s going on.

“The Uber driver’s been sitting with your kids waiting for you to come back for the past two hours.”

Sabogal claimed she had been on her way home and that her “situation’s a little bit complicated”.

She claimed her phone had died and she had “not done anything wrong.”

“Your number one priority should be your kids,” a police officer said.

“My children, absolutely, 100 percent, oh my god, listen, I’m not a criminal,” Sabogal replied.

The mum had visited a local restaurant she regularly goes to “up to five times a week” and had consumed several alcoholic beverages after she left the cab, authorities claimed.

Sabogal appeared in court on February 15 and was released from jail after posting a $1,500 bond for each charge.
