The award for Best Actress has gone to fan favourite Jessie Buckley, who burst into tears the moment her name was called.
Buckley picked up several best actress awards on the circuit before the Oscars and was the category frontrunner.
Australian star Rose Byrne was also nominated for her role in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
She’s just the latest in a string of Aussies who were snubbed tonight, including Jacob Elordi and Nick Cave.
Irish actress Buckley thanked the cast and crew of Hamnet, as well as her family, who were flown to the awards ceremony by Ireland.
“It’s Mother’s Day in the UK today so I’d like to dedicate this to the beautiful chaos of a mother’s heart,” she said.
“We all come from a lineage of women who continue to create against all odds, thank you for recognising me in this role. This is the greatest honour, I can’t even believe it.”
