Anthony Grove, 45, was arrested in Daytona Beach, Florida, after Volusia County deputies spotted him during a sweep targeting Spring Break chaos.

Police said Grove was wanted out of Ohio for violating parole.

Authorities there had warned he should be considered dangerous and possibly armed.

The arrest came years after Grove was convicted over the death of his infant son.

Officials said he killed the toddler in February 2015 when he threw a ceramic coffee mug at the child’s mother and struck the boy in the head instead.

Grove later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Ohio authorities. He was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Police said Grove had been on the run after a warrant was issued on October 29.

Bodycam footage from the arrest showed Chief Deputy Brian Henderson questioning Grove about why he was wanted.

“You made it sound like your kid – it was a car accident?” Henderson asked.

Grove’s reply was unclear, but it drew a sharp response from the deputy.

“Go sit in the car,” Henderson said.

As another officer led him away, Grove could be heard saying, “It’s over, bro.”

Deputies said Henderson was part of a huge surge of officers sent to the beach over fears of more spring break disorder.

That is when he and another deputy found Grove sitting beside a man drinking from a whiskey bottle, according to the arrest affidavit.

Henderson later said Grove played it real cool at first.

Then, the deputy said, Grove admitted he was wanted in Ohio from an incident where he killed his child.

Police said Grove denied he was on parole.

He also told officers he had been in the area for days while looking for a job.

But the arrest affidavit said his Ohio parole terms required him to get written permission before crossing state lines.

After taking him into custody, deputies hit him with more charges in Florida.

He was charged with failing to register as a convicted felon in the state and two counts of drug possession.

Officers said they found a THC vape pen inside his backpack.

Grove is now being held pending extradition back to Ohio, the sheriff’s office said.

Henderson said the arrest showed why small violations still matter during beach patrols.
