Magda Szubanski has shared some “fantastic news” about her cancer battle – and confirmed she’s alive, despite what’s being said on social media.

The Kath and Kim star, 64, told fans she’s completed chemotherapy and in “remission” after her diagnosis with a form of blood cancer called stage 4 mantle Cell Lymphoma.

In a video message shared with fans on Instagram, the actress and comedian expressed her “gratitude” for her fans’ “tsunami” of support.

“Phew! Big relief. It’s not a cure, but because I’ve got a good remission, that hopefully means that I’ll keep the cancer at bay for a good long time,” she said.

“Eternal gratitude to my medical team. We have the most incredible medical people in this country, we are so lucky.”

She quipped later in the video, “Seems I’m not dead, I’d better check with social media because that knows more about me than I do.”

She added, showing off the sense of humour she’s known for: “Got some hair back and turns out I’m not a natural blonde.”

In the caption, she wrote, “Thank you! I’m alive! 🤔 I love you. DON’T believe anything unless you see it HERE on my instagram feed or from a reputable news source.”

“Sending all my love and strength to anyone going through health challenges 🙏🩷🩷🙏.”

Underneath her post, Szubanski received an outpouring of support from fans and her famous friends alike.

“The best news darling!” Aussie singer Natalie Imbruglia commented underneath.

Actor Richard E. Grant added a series of love heart emojis.

The actress, who is also known for the likes of Babe and Big Girl’s Blouse, announced her shock cancer diagnosis in an Instagram video in May last year.

“Lovelies. Well. Some not great news. I’ve been diagnosed with stage 4 Mantle Cell Lymphoma – a rare and fast-moving blood cancer,” she captioned her post.

“I won’t sugar-coat it: it’s rough. But I’m hopeful. I’m being lovingly cared for by friends and family, my medical team is brilliant, and I’ve never felt more held by the people around me.”

“This is an obscure cancer and was only discovered incidentally via a breast screen where they found my lymph nodes were up. TBH, I’ve been feeling pretty rats–t for ages. So I asked for extra bloods and – voila!

“So the take away is – get tested and listen to your body!”
