Gia and Scott mafs

In the final week of MAFS 2026, the contestants are given one more task – the test of trust and security.

Tonight, on March 30, fans were given more than one curveball to process. Season-long arch-enemies Gia and Bec waved their white flags over a cheeky wine at the pub and shaky relationships were pushed to the edge by the matches that could have been.

After being split into brides and grooms, the contestants met face to face with the men or women they could have been paired with. While David, Scott, and Filip chose to politely decline their alternative match and opt out of the task, their brides stuck it out…with some leaning a little too much into the activity.

From one too many war metaphors from Danny (“we stood there like men, we fought like men”…Danny it was lunch, let’s not be dramatic) and one too many cheeky jokes from Alissa, the conversation that made everyone’s jaw drop was between Gia and her alternate match James.

Gia spoke to WHO about her new man after Scott, revealing that Scott’s insecurities at the surface of tonight’s episode were not that far off at all.

Why was Scott spiralling?

Tonight’s episode began with the plot twist of the century as Gia and Bec united and gossiped about their husbands at the pub. While Scott couldn’t wrap his head around the unlikely friendship, both girls’ need for a friend on the experiment made sense.

However, after Gia lied about where she was, Scott brought up his concerns and committed to showing Gia just how hurt he was, taking on the experts’ advice from the commitment ceremony. While he begged Gia for a “resolution” and assured her that he “wants to fall in love with [her] but these spirals [of hers] keep happening”, Gia didn’t appear quite as concerned about patching things up.

While she admitted it was difficult to see Scott hurting, it didn’t stop her from dropping some bombshells during the day’s task.

Paired with self-proclaimed “alpha” James, Gia was initially hesitant towards her alternative match. However, while she did deny his advances, she eventually opened up about the cracks in her and Scott’s relationship.

After James said he’d wait for her to be single in a year, she simply replied: “Don’t worry, I’m done in a week.” Ouch.

So, was Scott’s spiralling and hesitancy to commit to Gia wise after all, or was it his reaction that pushed Gia further away?

Was the grass really greener for Gia on the other side?

If these last couple of episodes have shown anything, it’s that the cracks in this “power couple” were much deeper than the pair initially let on. This task was all about testing contestants on their commitment to their partner by posing the hypothetical, “is the grass greener on the other side?”

As headlines have flooded social media about Gia’s newfound love post-experiment, Gia told WHO that her new boyfriend, Alan Wallace, makes her “feel very safe and secure.”

“Hence, no walk outs or drama in our relationship,” she said.

While Gia may not have found love with the alternative match MAFS had chosen for her, it looks like the seed was certainly planted for the single-mum that perhaps there was a better and more stable match out there for her, which might just have set of the chain events that led to the demise of the once happy couple.
