AN experienced mountaineer has been left fighting for her life after she slipped down a towering cliff and suffered a brain bleed.

Two strangers followed an eerie trail of blood and discovered Jacque Teitijen – a skilled climber who has scaled Mount Everest – on Tuesday.

Tietijen, who is from New York, was on a solo hiking trip to Bridal Veil Falls, a skyscraping 1,328 foot tall waterfall in rural Washington, her family told NBC affiliate KSL TV.

While scaling along the falls, Tietijen is believed to have slipped or been hit by falling rocks, causing her to plummet to the bottom of a 45-degree slope.

The hiker was luckily discovered by two others who followed a trail of Tietijen’s blood to her body.

“They took care of her, wrapped their coats around her, tried to get her body temperature up,” Katherine Tietijen, the hiker’s cousin, told the local outlet.

The injured hiker was airlifted to Utah Valley Hospital.

Tietijen is currently being treated for multiple brain injuries, including a significant skull fracture and facial fractures.

She also suffered a minimal tear of the carotid artery, according to a GoFundMe created to help support the hiker.

Katherine said her cousin had to be intubated for a few days while doctors monitored her brain swelling.

“If it starts to swell too much, they will have to do emergency surgery and take a piece out of her skull to give the brain space to expand,” Katherine explained.

Katherine said the two hikers who discovered Tietijen on the trail saved her life.

“The fact that they not just noticed that, but had the inclination to follow [Jacque’s blood] and to investigate, that potentially has saved her life,” Katherine said.

“Our family is so grateful.

“There are no words to how grateful we are to those men.”

The accident shook the whole Tietijen family.

The family said they were shocked that Jacque could take such a catastrophic fall, considering her extensive hiking experience.

A GoFundMe was created to help assist Jacque and to honor her “love for the outdoors” and connection to the environment.

“We know she will fight with everything she has to be able to return to her family and all the things she loves,” her family wrote.
