Tributes are flowing for a young Australian man who died after he was found unconscious on a hotel balcony in Bali, as his grieving family urges the public to show compassion while investigations continue.

Jamie Cusack, 30, was discovered by his girlfriend at their Seminyak accommodation about 4.15am on Wednesday.

A Denpasar Police spokesman said the victim was still breathing when emergency services arrived.

“He was unconscious when taken to Siloam hospital,” the spokesman said.

Mr Cusack tragically died in hospital hours later.

Police previously said the couple had been at a bar earlier in the night and returned to the hotel about 1.30am.

Officers said a thorough investigation into the Aussie man’s cause of death is ongoing.

As news of the tragedy spread, Mr Cusack’s mother took to social media with an emotional plea for respect.

“This is my beautiful son and there is far more to this story, do not believe everything you read,” she wrote.

“People be respectful, there are people that love him and there are lots of people devastated.”

Mr Cusack’s partner, Jess Grigora, has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to bring his body home to Australia and organise a funeral.

“He meant so much to so many, and his loss has left a deep void in the lives of everyone who knew and loved him,” Ms Grigora said.

“Jamie had the most infectious smile and a cheeky sense of humour that people were naturally drawn to. He loved and cared deeply for his family and friends, always bringing warmth, laughter and light into every room.

“He loved a good bit of rugby league, a chicken parmi, and being surrounded by the people he loved most.”

It’s understood Mr Cusack had been living on the Gold Coast.
