The parents of Cleo Smith — the young girl who was kidnapped from a WA campsite and held for 18 days — have closed the door on a difficult chapter in their lives by selling the home they lived in at the time.
Ellie Smith and Jake Gliddon have sold the three-bedroom, one-bathroom fibro home in South Carnarvon where they lived when Cleo was kidnapped from the Blowholes campsite at Point Quobba.
It was the house where they no doubt paced the floorboards over 18 days as police searched hundreds of kilometres along the Gascoyne coast, eventually finding the then-four year old at a local home.
Terence Darrell Kelly later pleaded guilty to kidnapping and keeping her at his his home — just 4km from where the family lived.
The family house sold for $320,000 last month — which was more than double the $120,000 they paid for it in April 2021.

Images of the home show a pink walled room, believed to have been Cleo’s, where she would have resumed her regular life after being rescued by police.
Their new home barely left them out of pocket, after their original house more than doubled in price in the five years they owned it.
The family has not lived in the property for nearly two years — instead using it as an investment property as rents in South Carnarvon skyrocketed to a median $1500 a week, more than three times the 2020 rental median of $475 a week.
The family now lives in a bigger five-bedroom, two bathroom house which they bought in East Carnarvon nearly two years ago for $375,000.

The sale casts the spotlight on a pocket of WA with very affordable housing, despite significant price hikes over recent years. Houses in the Gascoyne region are up 66 per cent $285,000 in 2020 to $475,000 median now.
The recently-sold South Carnarvon home was advertised as having an asbestos roof and on steel posts, three double sized bedrooms with polished floorboards.

It included a new split system air conditioner to main bedroom and to the lounge room and laminate floor planking across communal areas of the house.
The big 729sqm block is located close to Carnarvon boat harbour.
Cleo’s family have remained largely quiet in the wake of her ordeal, though released photo of her parents wedding in 2023. In 2024, Ms Smith release photos of Cleo celebrating her seventh birthday and later winning a gold medal in her first gymnastics competition.
The couple have been contacted for comment.
