The final commitment ceremony for MAFS 2026 aired tonight and everything is on the line.

With the weight of final vows hanging over contestants as they enter the final week of the experiment, this ceremony was the time for couples to finally get serious and tell the truth (because we all know not a lot of that has been going around this season!).

After tonight, it looks like more than one couple are on the rocks. David seems to have finally reached his wits’ end with Alissa, Scott is called “fake” by expert John for being “fearful” of Gia (someone had to say it!), and Danny used the “I’m a s–t boyfriend” excuse to explain his hot and cold attitude to Bec.

Bride Bec spoke to WHO recently, saying that her and Danny were “great”, hoping “people can see what [their] relationship was like behind closed doors.” However, after the recent MAFS: After the Dinner Party episode aired on Wednesday, March 25 this week, MAFS fans – and Bec herself – saw behind the scenes footage that exposed Danny’s commitment ceremony “openness” to be nothing but lies.

Danny used the ‘s–t boyfriend’ excuse to avoid accountability

On the couch, Bec basically gave Danny an ultimatum, explaining that she wouldn’t do “the final vows with someone who’s a maybe about [her].” And fair enough!

After a rough Homestays Week, Danny’s tendency to not engage in “soppy bollocks” (his words, obviously) brought Bec to tears after she was longing for a moment of heartfelt seriousness around the fire. This fight was brought up at the dinner party as Danny expressed concerns about feeling like “a b—h” moving into Bec’s home.

While this sparked a whole debate around gender roles and why he’s feeling “emasculated” by this idea, during the commitment ceremony, Danny explained his behaviour by whipping out the old “s–t boyfriend excuse.” We love weaponised incompetence (not)!

Expert John immediately clocked this and called Danny out, resulting in Danny’s call to action for the week to put his actions where his mouth his…since Bec obviously doesn’t need his money.

The pair both wrote stay, however, recent footage has revealed that this commitment probably won’t last.

Danny’s dishonesty and secret request exposed

When asked about her relationship with Danny, Bec told WHO that “Danny and [her] are great.”

“We are really hoping people can see what our relationship was like behind closed doors,” Bec said. “The show really is only showing a certain narrative.”

However, after watching the MAFS: After the Dinner Party episode this week, we’re not sure whether Bec wants to retract this week’s statement. As this “behind closed doors” footage is revealed in front of Bec and Danny on the couch, Danny calls Bec’s request for seriousness a “major major red flag” and describes constructive conversations with her as “getting crucified.” He even goes so far to ask producers if he can stay in a hotel in Adelaide while Bec’s off doing piece-to-camera interviews.

Sitting on the MAFS: After the Dinner Party couch, Danny’s “fear” to open up to Bec was called out as “dishonesty.”

The show is revealing the “narrative” that Danny is first and foremost concerned with his image over Bec…and perhaps there’s more truth to it than Bec thinks.
