Snoop Dogg and Zac Brown have collaborated on a song together, and no one is surprised that it’s all about marijuana. Even so, for fans of both artists, the lyrics are more creative than expected.

It’s no secret that one of Snoop Dogg’s favorite things is cannabis. Whether “The Voice” judge is making cannabis-infused brownies with bestie Martha Stewart, or investing in cannabis business ventures, he’s made his love for the green leaf one of his trademarks.

But, while “Let It Run” sounds like a song Snoop would’ve brought to Zac, that wasn’t the case. Zac reveals that he wrote the music and presented it to Snoop.

Zac admitted to “Us Weekly” that he co-wrote “Let It Run” with Chris Gelbuda, whom he called “an incredible guy” and “super talented writer.”

“So, when this song popped up, I was like, ‘we got to get Snoop on this,’” he said. “That was a dream as well.”

“He recorded it on his own,” he continued. “I sent it over for him to rap over the verse, but he rapped over the instrumental. So we, like, pivoted and make it work, or whatever. And I’m like, ‘whatever we got to do just to get it going. But it ended up being perfect.”

“The point of that song is just to have fun,” he added.

With lyrics like, “What makes you think I wanna hit a blunt full of spit?” and “We got cars that drive themselves, we put people into space, but can we please stop doing things like it’s 1998,” the expletive-filled “Let It Run” is definitely fun.

Adding to the fun spirit of the song is the fact that Zac and Snoop already had an appreciation for each other beforehand. “They reached out to me when they played me the record,” Snoop told “Fox News Digital.” “The record was so, so right up my alley, so it was an easy go-to, and I’m a fan of Zac.”

Snoop has long been a popular collaborator for country stars. He and Willie Nelson released “My Medicine” in 2008, and he and Trace Adkins got together for “So Do the Neighbors” in 2021. Snoop is a firm believer that “there’s no such thing as one genre.”

“That’s what we do,” he said. “We collaborate, we make things happen in music, and we put people together that deserve each other. And that’s what the world is on right now as far as when it comes to music.”

“It’s about crossing hands and bringing everybody together through music,” he added.
