“The Voice” Season 28 Begins Filming — And Season 29 May Already Be Underway

Get ready for back-to-back music magic: The Voice is ramping up for Season 28, with an all-star coaching panel and a big clue that Season 29 is already in the works.
NBC recently confirmed that Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé, and Niall Horan will be taking their red chairs for Season 28, set to air from September through December 2025. But fans keeping an eye on the show’s production schedule just spotted something even more exciting: early taping dates for Season 29.
Season 29 Blind Auditions Already Scheduled

While NBC has yet to officially announce a Season 29, its ticketing partner iota quietly released audience tickets for what it’s calling The Voice Season 29 Blind Auditions. The tapings are set to take place at Universal Studios Hollywood on:
July 21, 2025 — 10:45 a.m. & 4 p.m.
July 22, 2025 — 10:30 a.m. & 3:45 p.m.
July 23, 2025 — 10:30 a.m. & 3:45 p.m.
This filming structure mirrors the show’s recent trend of filming two seasons back-to-back during summer and early fall—maximizing time with coaches and streamlining the broadcast calendar.
A New Era of Coaches for Season 28
With Snoop, Reba, Bublé, and Niall bringing distinct musical flavors and fanbases, Season 28 is expected to shake things up. The coaches begin taping Blind Auditions for Season 28 on July 6–9, with double daily sessions — similar to past seasons.
Longtime coach John Legend, who recently wrapped his 10th season, explained the filming format on The Kelly Clarkson Show:
“We do two seasons per summer and early fall. So even when you’re away, you’re really not away.”
A Long Journey for Contestants
While filming two seasons in a row makes for smoother production, it means a much longer timeline for hopefuls.
Season 27 runner-up Jaelen Johnston recently opened up about his two-year journey to the finale. He began with an open call audition in September 2023, followed by over 15 Zoom callbacks, before finally taping his Blind Audition in July 2024. He had to stay quiet for nearly a year until the show aired in February 2025.
Johnston, who landed a coveted three-chair turn from Kelsea Ballerini, Adam Levine, and Michael Bublé, ultimately chose Ballerini as his coach. His story reflects the extended, behind-the-scenes process that’s part of The Voice’s intense production cycle.
Fans Anticipate Format Changes

With criticism mounting in recent seasons—especially after a controversial Season 27 finale—fans are watching closely for format changes in Season 28. Producers have teased a “revamped structure” and more live performance rounds, aiming to recapture the raw, spontaneous energy that once made the show a fan favorite.
