Megan Moroney Teases New Color Theme For Next Album: ‘I Already Know What It Is’

The new color is set to represent a happier set of tunes.

Megan Moroney has made a habit of pairing each musical chapter with a distinct color scheme. So far, she’s associated pink with the tune “I’m Not Pretty,” orange with her breakout hit “Tennessee Orange,” green for her Lucky era, and most recently, blue for her Am I Okay? project. Now, the rising star has hinted that she already has a new color locked in for her next album.

When asked in an interview with Audacy’s Katie Neal if she had a vision for her next color scheme, Moroney confidently stated, “Yeah, a hundred percent…And I already know what it is.”

While she wasn’t ready to say what color that might be, Moroney joked that she’s going to have to do a “gender reveal” with her fans, inviting them to submit their guesses for what they believe the color will be before the grand unveiling.

Listeners Can Expect Tracks That Are A Lot “Happier”

Aside from the visuals, the Georgia also teased what listeners can expect from the songs and storylines throughout the project.  She may be known for her heartbreak-heavy tunes, however she says there’s about to be a shift in tone.

“I can say that I’ve been in the studio a lot. I’ve been writing a lot. I’m just going to keep the ball rolling, so I’m excited. This next set of music is a lot happier than what you would expect, but I feel like that’s just where I’m at in life. I feel like for once I’m just chilling. I love it.”

She doesn’t plan to completely abandon her signature “emo cowgirl” aesthetic though, as Moroney admitted there will be at least one “really gut-wrenching” track.

“There’s a few sad songs still. I would never abandon my emo cowgirl, but for the album as a whole, I definitely think it’s a lot more carefree and just sassy and fun, and I’m excited for everyone to hear.”

Moroney Earns Second No. 1 With ‘Am I Okay?’

Megan Moroney might have her sights set on her next record, but she isn’t completely done with her Am I Okay? era. Over the weekend, the singer/songwriter announced to fans while on stage at CMA Fest that the album’s title track has officially become her second No. 1 hit. She celebrated with a glamorous performance in front of a packed-out audience at Nissan stadium.

Taking to Instagram to share the news, she wrote, “I CHECKED MY PULSE & AM I OKAY? IS #1 ON COUNTRY RADIO!!!!! thank you so much to my radio friends & my wonderful team & to @jessiejodillon & @lukerobert for writing it with me & last but not least the best fans in the world :,) i have thoroughly enjoyed making “AIO blue” my entire personality love yall so much thank u thank u thank uuuuuuuu <333333”

Additionally, she is still in the midst of her headlining Am I Okay? tour that continues tomorrow, June 12 in Canandaigua, NY and will wrap up in October. Joining her in support are Solon Holt, Patrick Droney, Charlie Worsham, Emily Ann Roberts, Kasey Tyndall, Maggie Antone, Danielle Bradbery, Sadie McLayne, and Laci Kaye Booth on select dates.
