🚨 BREAKING: Jordi Alba announces he will retire at the end of MLS season
Inter Miami have been dealt a major blow after Jordi Alba announced he will retire from professional football at the end of the 2025 Major League Soccer season.
The 36-year-old left-back revealed his decision in a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday evening, bringing an end to a glittering 19-year senior career.

Alba’s announcement comes just weeks after Sergio Busquets confirmed he would also hang up his boots, meaning Lionel Messi will lose another of his long-time Barcelona team-mates in Miami.
A product of Valencia’s academy, Alba rose to prominence at Barcelona, where he spent 11 years and made 460 appearances. During his time at Camp Nou he won six La Liga titles, five Copa del Reys, a Champions League and a FIFA Club World Cup.

On the international stage, Alba earned 93 caps for Spain and was part of the side that won Euro 2012, scoring in the final against Italy.
Alba joined Inter Miami in 2023, reuniting with Messi and Busquets to rekindle one of the most successful partnerships of the 2010s.
His retirement will mark the end of an era for the Spanish full-back, whose pace, attacking instincts and understanding with Messi defined a generation of Barcelona’s success.
