A nurse was found dead in her home just weeks after her husband – a prominent Missouri anesthesiologist – admitted to violently attacking a woman, according to newly revealed court records.

Alexandra ‘Allie’ Hummel, 36, of New London, was found unresponsive at her home on Lone Cedar Drive on June 23 following a 911 call, according to the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation into the nurse’s death remains ongoing, with authorities releasing few details in the weeks since.

Her husband has not been accused of any crime or wrongdoing in connection with her death.

In court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Dr Andrew Hummel pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman in March 2026 – three months before his wife was pronounced dead inside their home.

His charges stem from a July 2025 incident, when he was arrested for strangling and striking a woman with whom he was ‘in a continuing relationship of romantic nature’ in the face, according to the outlet.

According to a police report obtained by WGEM News, officers with the Woodson Terrace Police Department responded to a Hilton Hotel on Natural Bridge Road in St. Louis after reports of a domestic disturbance last year.

Authorities said they were told that screaming and shouting were coming from the room rented by Hummel and the victim, who is not named in the documents.

Police found Hummel with a bleeding cut on his hand and reported seeing blood on the bed inside the hotel room, according to the report.

While officers spoke with Hummel, the alleged victim was found in the women’s restroom in the hotel lobby. Police reported that she had a swollen lip and said the pair had argued before he physically assaulted her.

The victim told police the confrontation turned violent, alleging that Hummel strangled her repeatedly until she could no longer breathe.

Officers also spoke with a hotel guest in a neighboring room who said they heard a woman scream ‘get off me’ several times. The guest said the disturbing noises continued both before and after they reported the incident to the front desk.

As part of the court’s order, Hummel was required to remain employed or enrolled in school full time while maintaining his sobriety, according to the outlet.

He was also ordered to complete alcohol and drug, mental health, domestic violence and batterer intervention assessments and programs.

Weeks after pleading guilty to two counts of fourth-degree assault – both Class A misdemeanors – the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from Alexandra’s residence reporting a medical emergency.

The caller also requested Emergency Medical Services (EMS), according to the department. A deputy and members of the New London Fire Department arrived to assist with the emergency response.

‘Thirty-six year old Alexandra Hummel was found unresponsive in the residence. She was later pronounced deceased,’ the sheriff’s office said in a June 24 statement.

‘An autopsy was ordered by the Ralls County Coroner,’ it added. ‘The investigation into this matter is still ongoing and no other information can be released at this time.’

Hummel is a licensed anesthesiologist in Missouri, while Alexandra worked as a licensed nurse. She would have celebrated her 37th birthday on July 7.

His most recent position was at Hannibal Regional Hospital, though his LinkedIn profile lists him as currently self-employed through Northern Ozark Anesthesia Solutions, his own LLC.
