Toddler added to tragic list of dead from historic Texas floods

A tiny toddler has been added to the grim, seemingly never-ending tally of dead from the devastating floods that raged through Texas over Fourth of July weekend, according to family and reports.

The 20-month-old boy, Clay Parisher, was part of a big holiday gathering at a relative’s home along the riverbanks of the Guadalupe River near Ingram in Kerr County when a flash flood tore through and swept him away, his uncle told the Austin Statesman.

Seven relatives had gathered at attorney Clint Parsley’s riverfront home when the river rose to staggering, unprecedented levels early Friday morning, according to the local outlet.

Little Clay didn’t make it. He was the son of Lance Parisher and Alissa Parsley, according to Aaron Parsley, the boy’s uncle.

Rescue workers from multiple agencies — including NASA — are continuing their desperate search for the living and the dead.

However, there have been no “live rescues” since Friday, and the chances of finding further survivors are decreasing with each passing day, Kerrville Police officials said at a press conference.

Clay’s family had no additional comment, according to the uncle, a senior editor at Texas Monthly, located in Austin.
