Blake Shelton Reveals the Only Country Artist He Listens to at Home

The country icon only plays one artist at home — and it’s not who you think.

Blake Shelton has a cheeky answer when asked about his musical preferences at home.

The Oklahoma native claims he listens to one country singer and one country singer only — himself.

“I crank all of my music all the time,” Shelton jokes to Taste of Country. “Twenty-four hours of Blake Shelton going on at Blake Shelton’s house. Come on in.”

While many fans expected the country icon to name his wife Gwen Stefani as his go-to artist, he kept the focus on his own catalog, though he didn’t leave her out entirely.

Shelton expressed admiration for Stefani’s work, both as a solo artist and as No Doubt’s frontwoman, citing “Cool,” “Hella Good,” “It’s My Life” and “Hey Baby” among his favorites.

Whether or not Shelton is being serious about his self-listening habits, he certainly has an impressive collection to choose from. The singer recently celebrated his 30th No. 1 single with “Texas,” the debut track from his May release For Recreational Use Only.

“It’s been a few years since I’ve had a solo No. 1 single, and I’m super fired up about this one,” Shelton says. “I had no idea if ‘Texas’ would be a number one song, but the first time I heard it, I knew that it was something different and it sounded like nothing else I’d ever done before.”

His success shows no signs of slowing down. Shelton’s latest single, “Stay Country Or Die Tryin’,” is already climbing the charts in the Top 30 and could become his 31st number one.

“When I heard ‘Stay Country or Die Tryin’,’ it took me back to the first time I heard ‘Ol’ Red’ or ‘God’s Country,’” Shelton explains. “It’s got so much energy and is full of those little catchphrases and things we say out in the country. I absolutely fell in love with it. I’m proud of this recording—and I love singing it live even more. Hopefully, you’ll come catch a show and sing it with us.”
