King Charles’ office made a rare error with its latest message on social media.
On Jan. 16, the Royal Family X account shared a message from the monarch to commemorate the first anniversary of the 100 Year Partnership between the U.K. and Ukraine. The partnership signed in January 2025 aims to strengthen military, economic and cultural ties for future generations.
The message from King Charles, 77, was shared across two slides stamped with the Royal Coat of Arms and signed with the King’s regnal signature of Charles R. However, there was a formatting problem!
A close look showed that the slides appeared to have been uploaded in the wrong order and the second half of the King’s message was shared first.

While mistakes are rare across the royal family’s social media channels, snafus still happen. There have previously been typos in royal pregnancy announcements and wrong links broadcast online.
What seemed to be the correct sequence was confirmed in a speech by the U.K.’s Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy, who shared the King’s words in an address at a 100 Year Partnership event in Kyiv on Jan. 16.
“As we celebrate the first anniversary of the 100-Year Partnership between the United Kingdom and Ukraine, I do pray that the flourishing bonds between our two countries may bring some hope and moral support at this most difficult time. Ukraine’s most valiant strength in the face of such appalling hardship and pain is an extraordinary example to the world, and I am constantly impressed by the sheer bravery, courage and resilience shown by the Ukrainian people,” the King’s message began, per Lammy’s remarks.
“As we also look ahead to the fourth anniversary of the full-scale invasion of your beloved country – a time of great anguish, I know, for many families across Ukraine and the world – my wife [Queen Camilla] and I continue to keep you all in our heartfelt thoughts and prayers,” it continued, citing the Russian invasion of Ukraine that began in February 2022.
“I wish, above all, to convey my profound hope that Ukraine can achieve a just and lasting peace that safeguards its security, sovereignty and prosperity, in a way that Ukrainians deserve. We stand with you,” the King concluded.
On X, the message was signed “Slava Ukraini,” which is Ukrainian for “Glory to Ukraine,” and “Charles R.” His signature was in the traditional style for the sovereign dating back to the 12th century, with the “R” shorthand for Rex, which means King in Latin.
Britain has been an ally of Ukraine amid the war with Russia, supplying the country with weapons and helping to train forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited King Charles three times in 2025, most recently visiting him at Windsor Castle in October.

The King’s sister Princess Anne had recently visited Kyiv in September to show solidarity with the families living through the conflict and in March 2023, Prince William traveled to Poland and met British troops supporting the effort on the country’s border with Ukraine.
Prince Harry also went to Ukraine twice in 2025, traveling there in April and September to show support for wounded, sick and injured service personnel.
