Gina Huynh, the former girlfriend of rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs, who previously accused him of abuse, has shocked many by submitting a character letter to the court in support of the hip-hop mogul ahead of his October 3 sentencing.
The letter, filed Sunday as part of Diddy’s legal team’s submission, urged the court to grant him release on bail while awaiting sentencing.
“Mr. Combs has not been violent in years and prioritizes his role as a father above all else,” Huynh wrote. “Our relationship, like many others, was not always perfect. We went through ups and downs and made mistakes, but he has acknowledged his faults and is committed to making better choices in the future.”
A Surprising Turn From an Alleged Victim

Huynh, 33, once publicly accused Diddy of physical, emotional, and psychological abuse, including an incident where she alleged he stomped on her stomach and left her struggling to breathe. She also claimed that those around Diddy ignored his abusive behavior.
Despite this history, her letter now portrays a changed man:
She says that after their breakup, Diddy became more loving, patient, and gentle.
She stated she does not see him as a danger to herself or to the community.
She emphasized that this is Diddy’s first criminal case, and he has been cooperative and respectful throughout the investigation and trial.
Huynh also highlighted his strong family ties, including seven children who rely on him for emotional and financial support.
“If granted bail, Mr. Combs will comply with all conditions and will not pose a risk to anyone,” she wrote.
Background: From Accuser to Advocate

Huynh, who was identified as “Victim 3” in the government’s case, was a key witness but ultimately refused to testify in court.
Former assistant George Kaplan testified that he once saw Diddy angrily throw an apple at Huynh.
Cassie Ventura, another ex-girlfriend and identified as Victim 1, testified that Diddy physically abused her, forced sexual encounters with male prostitutes, and cheated on her with Huynh in the later years of their relationship.
Huynh, born in 1992 in Nebraska to Vietnamese and African-American parents, is a fashion and beauty influencer with 145,000 Instagram followers. She dated Diddy from 2014 to 2019, beginning their relationship while he was still involved with Cassie.
Diddy’s Legal Status
Diddy, 56, has been detained at a Brooklyn, New York jail since September 2024 on charges of:
Prostitution transportation (convicted)
Sex trafficking (acquitted)
Racketeering conspiracy (acquitted)
The trial, which began May 12, 2025, lasted seven weeks. On July 2, the jury convicted him only of transporting individuals for prostitution, which carries a maximum 20-year sentence, sparing him the more severe sex trafficking and racketeering charges.
While awaiting October 3 sentencing, Diddy remains in custody after Judge Subramanian denied his bail request, citing a history of violence and disregard for the law.
