Another victim was wounded and robbed, while a third escaped with minor injuries.

Two teens are in custody after an alleged violent rampage at a bus stop injured three men including an elderly Good Samaritan.
Police were called to reports of multiple assaults at a shopping centre on Mulgrave Rd in Earlville, Cairns, just before 6.20am on Wednesday.
Officers allege an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy first targeted a 58-year-old local man, who suffered minor injuries and did not require treatment.

A short time later, a 24-year-old man from Edmonton was allegedly attacked, wounded and robbed at the same bus stop.
He was treated for a wound to his chest.
A 69-year-old man who tried to help was then allegedly assaulted, suffering a significant head injury.

Police provided first aid before paramedics took the two injured men to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition.
The two suspects were arrested nearby a short time later.
One was taken into custody at a Mestrez St property, about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop, about 8.45am.
The other was also arrested soon after at the intersection of Sunflower and Mestrez St.
Locals said the violence was deeply concerning.
“We live around this area too, so it’s very scary,” one woman told 7NEWS.

A man who has lived in Cairns for decades said safety around shopping centres was becoming a growing issue.
“This is how safe you are waiting for the bus … it’s ridiculous,” he said.
“You watch the shopping centres get more unsafe … it’s getting worse.”
A crime scene has been declared around the shopping centre and nearby streets as investigations continue.
Police are urging anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward.
