THE SEARCH ENDED IN TRAGEDY..! – MAN FOUND D3AD AFTER MAJOR MARINE SEARCH OPERATION OFF CARBROOK BOAT RAMP.

Update: Search and rescue operation, Carbrook (Logan)

Police have concluded a marine search and rescue operation off Carbrook Boat Ramp, following the discovery of a man deceased this morning, 6 August.

Just before 6pm last night, 5 August, police were called in relation to a missing 83-year-old man who had departed from the Carbrook boat-ramp on his vessel earlier that day but failed to return at 3pm as planned.

Police commenced a search and rescue operation which involved multiple Water Police vessels and Polair, and was assisted by Marine Rescue Queensland and Coastguard.

Overnight, police located the man’s unoccupied vessel in the vicinity of the Carbrook and Alberton boat ramps.

Around 8.30am, police located the 83-year-old man deceased approximately 1 kilometre from the boat ramp.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.

Police have launched a search and rescue operation to locate a missing boater off Carbrook Boat Ramp.

Initial information indicates the 83-year-old man would be returning by 3pm this afternoon, 5 August.

He was last seen around 12pm at Carbrook. He has not been seen or heard from since.

Police have attempted to contact the man and family members.

Officers have attended the boat ramp where they located his vehicle and trailer still parked.

Police have commenced a search and rescue operation involving multiple Water Police vessels and Polair, and with assistance from Marine Rescue Queensland, and Coastguard.

The boat is described as a 15-foot Clark aluminium boat with a Yamaha motor.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact police.
