Lucy Davis, who played Dawn Tinsley in the original UK version of The Office, has revealed she has “incurable” breast cancer. The daughter of comedian Jasper Carrott, she starred as the office receptionist in the groundbreaking sitcom, which ran from 2001 to 2003. In a heartbreaking update shared on Instagram today, the on-screen star, 53, made a heartbreaking admission after she suffered a devastating loss.
She was diagnosed with “incurable” cancer a year and a half ago, but said it has “metastasised” to her bones, including her spine, right hip and ribs. In the post, she told her followers it is “too late” for chemotherapy.
In the post, Lucy refers to her beloved late dog Gracie, who died in 2024. The actress said she will be reunited with her pet pooch, “sooner than expected” in the tearful message.
In the Instagram caption, she said: “I’m not scared of whatever comes next. I’m at peace with it.
“I’ll see my Gracie sooner than expected, and for me, leaving my physical body just means going home. Any and all grieving is for my family; it’s far harder for them than for me.”The actress penned a lengthy tribute to her pup at the time of her death.
Alongside a montage of snaps with Gracie, she wrote: “On Friday I had to say goodbye to the best being there is. She was nearly 17.

“Because of Gracie I learned what this feeling of unconditional love is. And now I need to somehow deal with the loss of her in my life.”
She continued: ‘I don’t really know where to start in telling who she was, she gave me everything and asked for nothing. I learned so much from her.
For her whole life I always knew where she was at any given minute, and now I don’t. That’s one of the hardest parts for me.
She was kind, generous, wilful, funny, fabulously disobedient, very vocal, and so loving. She was my travel buddy, my playmate, my partner in crime, my love. God I was lucky. Thank you my girl. Fly free. Until we meet again.”
