The baby as well as a woman were taken to hospital and a police investigation is underway.
A newborn baby was found in the yard of a home in Melbourne’s northwest.
Police say a member of the public discovered the baby in the yard of their home on Copernicus Way in Keilor Downs shortly before 8am on Thursday.
The baby and a woman from a nearby address were taken to Western Health Sunshine in a stable condition.
“Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident remain ongoing,” Victoria Police said.
Anyone with any information has been urged to come forward.
