A man has been shot by police after allegedly stabbing an officer in the neck in Adelaide’s north.
A man has been shot by police after allegedly stabbing a female officer in the neck in Adelaide’s north.
In a statement, South Australia Police said officer shot the man, 27, at Elizabeth East on Wednesday after a female officer was stabbed in the neck.
The officer was rushed to hospital and is being treated for serious injuries.
The man, who had been allegedly running around armed with a knife on Main North Road at 11am, was also taken to hospital but his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Acting Assistant Commissioner David O’Donovan said commended the police response to the situation.
“We are providing appropriate support for her colleagues and of course for her family,” he said.
“The response by police this morning was a swift response and they responded to what was clearly an evolving and very rapidly dangerous situation.
“Their actions today were in response to an immediate threat posed by an armed individual.”

Commissioner O’Donovan said police would be speaking to the suspect “at the earliest opportunity” as a part of investigations.

“He has (allegedly) stabbed a police officer so he will be facing some very serious charges,” he said.
